About Torah PORTIONS
Torah PORTIONS is a ministry resource of First Fruits of Zion intended to make the weekly Torah portion accessible for everyone. We encourage Christians to become familiar with the five books of Moses and read along with the Messianic Jewish world as we all study the Bible together throughout the year.
The Bible is the living Word of God, and study of the Bible changes people's lives. Just immersing oneself in God's Word is sufficient. By committing ourselves to a disciplined, weekly study of God's Word, we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and transform our minds.
You can use Torah PORTIONS to track along with the weekly Bible readings, listen to the Bible read aloud on your computer, or read a short commentary on each week's Torah portion. It's your on-line gateway to the synagogue reading schedule.
More In-Depth Study of Torah
For more in-depth study and commentary on the weekly Bible portions, consider using our full monthly Torah Study Program, Torah Club.
Many churches and Messianic communities have already established weekly Bible studies based on the Torah PORTIONS reading schedule and using First Fruits of Zion's Torah Club materials. Classes like that come in many shapes and sizes. Some are lecture format, while others are an informal group discussion. It might be a women's study conducted in a teahouse, it might be a Sunday school class, or it might be a formal class in a lecture hall.
Studying the weekly Torah portion should not replace or compete with local churches or congregations. Rather it should support the local body by creating opportunities of learning, growing and maturing in the Word of God.
You don't need to be a pastor or a rabbi. You only need to love the Word of God and want to study the Word with other Christians using the weekly Torah portion cycle. The weekly readings will provide a better understanding of the Bible that Jesus read, how the Torah shaped the culture of the New Testament, and how it affects our lives today.
